I was born and raised in a small coastal town in South India, in a home full of music, art and books. My father, being a huge Dylan fan, made it a point to immerse us in his music, his poetry and his politics.

As a result I spent a fair part of my childhood studying Dylan’s discography in detail, determined to understand this artist that seemed to have such an influence on my father.

Simple Twist of Fate is an ongoing graphic memoir project. The story centers around my relationship with Dylan’s music and how it was influenced by my relationship with my father and my attempts to feel closer to him.

The narrative follows two timelines, moving between the present day and memories from my childhood, combining autobiographical comics with longform personal essays.
